Alexis Sanchez, who is still nowhere near back to his best after a summer at the Confederations Cup with Chile and a possible move to Manchester City that Arsenal pulled out of on deadline day.
It will make Wenger’s 801st league game in charge, away to City on Sunday, even more of a challenge for the Frenchman and his team.
City are expected to renew their interest in Sanchez but Wenger is not worried that the Chilean might not be in the right frame of mind to face possible future employers.
“No, I am not concerned,” he said. “Because I am not suspicious of the performances or the desire to win of a football player. When you are a football player, you have a social contract with the rest of the team and I never question that.”Related image

“He’s coming back stronger physically,” he said. “He’s a bit frustrated when he doesn’t score, like all goalscorers, but I’m not worried about it. He works hard and it will come back quickly.
“At the moment he’s marked well, [opponents] double up on him, but he still creates many dangerous situations and he just has not to worry too much. I know you always say that to strikers and they still worry but over a longer period he has always scored and that will come back.”
Another goalscorer short of goals is Tammy Abraham, on loan from Chelsea, whose pass created Swansea’s goal for Sam Clucas which put them in front but who is finding chances hard to come by in a struggling side.
