Barcelona have confirmed that Sergi Roberto will be out for five weeks with a hamstring strain picked up against Olympiacos on Tuesday.
The club have also confirmed that Andre Gomes suffered a thigh injury in the same match and will be missing for 3-4 weeks.
The news is a blow with the pair out of Saturday’s clash with Sevilla, although there is a brief break in Barca’s schedule after that match due to an international break.
However, it means that Barca will also have to make do without Roberto for the Liga games against Leganes, Valencia and Celta Vigo as well as the Champions League clashes with Juventus and Sporting.
Roberto has been a key part of the team this season, both at right-back and in midfield, while Gomes had also seemed to be back in favour recently.
Ernesto Valverde therefore has decisions to make, starting with Saturday’s game against Sevilla, with Barca hoping to go into the break still unbeaten at the top of the table.
