FC Barcelona transfer rumour update – James Rodríguez and Antoine Griezmann

When Antoine Griezmann signed a new 5-year contract with Atlético Madrid, he agreed to increase his release clause to €200 million for the period of time when Atlético would be under the FIFA transfer ban.
But the ban expires in January, and Griezmann’s release clause will return to the original €100 million when it does. Then, Barca are looking to pounce and snap him up for a reasonable fee vis-à-vis his talent.
The French goal machine also prefers a move to Barcelona, but he has a set of terms that Barcelona need to fulfill. But those conditions are reasonable. Griezmann wants to spearhead the attack, and the club should be itching to comply, considering Luis Suárez’s poor form.

Barcelona plot complex move for James Rodríguez

James Rodriguez: Real Madrid flop could be set for Barcelona transfer amid Bayern troubles

The Bavarian club is going through a period of turbulence, having sacked Carlo Ancelotti and re-appointed Jupp Heynckes on an interim basis. Rodríguez was a favourite of Ancelotti’s, who sanctioned his move. But he has made just 5 appearances under Heynckes.
If he continues to be left of the team, Bayern are unlikely to exercise their option to sign him next summer. But since Barcelona are interested in him, they could sign him for €60 million and then move him on for €100 million. That would earn the Stern des Südens a neat profit of €40 million.
