The Belgium international hasn’t scored for Manchester United since his seventh Premier League goal of the season in a 4-0 victory over Crystal Palace.
Lukaku has fired blanks against Liverpool, Huddersfield Town and Tottenham Hotspur, while he didn’t get on the score sheet home and away against Portuguese team Benfica.
The 24-year-old moved to Manchester United in a £75m deal from Everton in the summer transfer window ahead of a potential return to Chelsea.
Former Republic of Ireland defender Kilbane admitted that he is worried about Lukaku’s current form after his dry spell.
“Lukaku looks really out of sorts at the moment. Jose is trying to keep him on side. He missed a couple of chances,” Kilbane told Newstalk’s Off The Ball podcast.
Manchester United finished in sixth place in the Premier League table last season but won the League Cup and the Europa League.
The Red Devils signed Nemanja Matic and Victor Lindelof as well as Lukaku in the summer transfer window.
The Belgian striker scored 25 times in 36 games in the Premier League last season to finish behind Harry Kane in the goal-scoring charts.
Lukaku moved to Everton from Chelsea in a £27m deal in the 2014 summer transfer window after failing to make the breakthrough at Stamford Bridge.
