Arsenal and Manchester City are set to go head-to-head for one Premier League star in the January transfer and he will have a very big decision to make.
That player is West Brom’s Jonny Evans who was the subject of interest from both clubs in the summer transfer window.
Manchester City and Pep Guardiola made a move for the player late in the window but West Brom were unwilling to let their star man leave easily.
Though, having already rejected him a big move in the summer, it is now likely that the Baggies will have to let him have his wish in January.
There were some big questions over Manchester City’s interest in Evans, due to his previous connection with Manchester United.
Not only that, the club boasts one of the best financial backers in world football and could surely attract a bigger calibre of player.
Though, it looks as though Guardiola has chosen his man and actually wants Evans to come in and most likely play a squad role.
Arsene Wenger will be hoping to stop that happening though, as the Frenchman also wants to add him to his squad.
The Gunners have struggled defensively at times this season and injury problems have left them short in central defence on a number of occasions.
It could certainly get interesting this January if the two clubs get themselves into a bidding war.
Safe to say, that would suit West Brom down to the ground.
