Albion have been put on red-alert after Odion Ighalo told his representatives that he’s willing to move back to the Premier League this month.
The 28-year-old former Watford striker was a Baggies target last season but decided on a move to China instead.
He is currently playing for Changchun Yatai but has a release clause in his contract, believed to be £20m.
Albion are looking for a new striker and could consider the hitman in the weeks ahead.
The Baggies will wait to see whether some of their other targets come off, first.
A whole host of strikers have been linked already and Alan Pardew knows he needs more firepower to keep the club in the Premier League.
