Arsenal have made an approach to sign Atletico Madrid star Saul Niguez, according to reports in Spain. Saul has made 188 appearances since breaking into Atleti’s first-team back in 2012 but the 23-year-old is being linked with a move to the Premier League at the end of the 2017/18 campaign. While Manchester United were at the front of the queue to sign Saul, it’s understood the Gunners have now stepped up their interest in the highly-rated Spain international.
Arsenal could face a battle to land Saul, though, with many of Europe’s elite sides keeping close tabs on the Spaniard’s situation. However, the £130million release clause in Saul’s contract at Altetico may put off potential suitors.
