Andre Gomes’ time at the Nou Camp has been nothing short of disastrous and he is expected to head for the exit.
But Messi, Don Balon claim, has been left most disappointed by Paulinho.
The report suggests Messi is angry and is unhappy the Brazilian midfielder has seen his form deteriorate at the worst possible moment.
Some reports have claimed that Messi wants to see Gomes leave, but Don Balon feels Paulinho has “lost some punch” and isn’t as effective as he was earlier on in the season.
Barcelona, meanwhile, are still hoping to complete a La Liga and Copa del Rey double after their Champions League exit to Roma in midweek.
After crashing out to Roma, Liverpool legend John Barnes suggested Messi was to blame for the defeat.
He said: “The problem Barcelona have is when you have a player like Messi who dominates so much, if he doesn’t perform the others don’t show their worth.
“It wouldn’t surprise me if when Messi doesn’t play then you can see the other players coming to the fore.
“When Messi plays, he completely dominates.
“But when he doesn’t perform the rest of the players, who are very good, they also don’t perform.”
