Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos has today opened up on a controversial incident from his side’s fiery clash with Barcelona last night, involving he and Luis Suarez.
Matchup
Spain’s two biggest clubs went head to head at the Camp Nou in the latest edition of El Clasico, with Barcelona having already secured the La Liga title.
However, the record-setting unbeaten streak being enjoyed by the Blaugrana was on the line, with Real no doubt having headed into proceedings desperate to put an end to the run of their fierce rivals.
1-1
The first-half of action in Catalunya last night saw a pair of early goals shared by the two sides, with Cristiano Ronaldo having cancelled out Luis Suarez’s 10th-minute strike just 5 minutes later.
However, it was a hectic sequence as the opening 45 minutes came to a close that grabbed the majority of the headlines, after a number of heated exchanges eventually saw Sergio Ramos, Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi booked, Sergi Roberto given his marching orders, and Gareth Bale somehow escape unpunished following a horror challenge on Samuel Umtiti.

2-2
The second-half opened up in equally controversial fashion, as a questionable challenge from Luis Suarez on Raphael Varane eventually saw the former lay on Lionel Messi for a wonderful piece of control and guided finish in at the near-post of Keylor Navas.
Real went on to equalise 20 minutes later through Gareth Bale, with the Welsh winger having smashed home a stunning finish from the edge of the box following a perfect lay-off from Marco Asensio.
Controversy soon reigned once more, though, when Jordi Alba completely mistimed a challenge in the penalty area on Marcelo, blatantly missing the ball and taking out the Brazilian, with no spot-kick awarded.
‘What he is like’
In the end, a hectic evening at the Camp Nou eventually saw the spoils shared and Barcelona’s undefeated league streak live on, but, unsurprisingly, the verbal exchanges between the clubs have since rumbled on in the 24 hours since.
The main culprit has been Real defender Sergio Ramos, with the Spaniard having already claimed that Lionel Messi pressured referee Hernandez Hernandez in the tunnel at half-time, going on to suggest that the complaints of Barca’s talisman may have had an impact on some of the questionable decisions made over the course of the second-half.
