Sir Alex Ferguson reaction and updates as Manchester United legend 'talks to family' in hospital following brain haemorrhage

Manchester United legend Sir Alex Ferguson has reportedly spoken to his family - but remains seriously ill in hospital following a brain haemorrhage.
Ferguson, 76, is one of football's greatest ever managers having won 13 Premier League titles during his 26 years in the Old Trafford dugout.
He also won 25 other pieces of silverware for United, including five FA Cup titles and two Champions Leagues.
A Manchester United statement on Saturday read: "Sir Alex Ferguson has undergone emergency surgery today for a brain haemorrhage.
"The procedure has gone very well but he needs a period of intensive care to optimise his recovery. His family request privacy in this matter."
Ferguson, who carved a player career in the Scottish leagues, also managed East Sterlingshire, St Mirren, Aberdeen and Scotland.

Giggs backs Fergie to battle through scare

Ryan Giggs believes Sir Alex Ferguson’s fighting spirit will help him recover from brain surgery.
The 76-year-old former Manchester United manager remains in intensive care in a Salford hospital after an emergency operation on a brain haemorrhage on Saturday.
Ferguson gave Giggs his debut as a 17-year-old in 1991 and he played a part in all of the Scot’s 13 Premier League title victories.
”Now is the time to pray and hope he can make a full recovery,” Giggs told BBC Wales.”He has been the biggest influence in my career, both on and off the pitch.
”I know the operation has been a success - but he is a fighter and that is what makes me think that he will be able to make a recovery.”
Current United defender Jones agreed, saying: “I know his character. I know he has that fight in him. Hopefully he’ll recover well"
