Manchester United are closing in on a deal to sign Gareth Bale from Real Madrid, according to reports in Spain.
Spanish outlet Don Balon, as quoted by the Daily Express, is reporting that the Red Devils are keen on a deal to bring the 28-year-old attacker to Old Trafford this summer.
Bale’s future has been a talking point since his comments in the wake of the Champions League final, when he hinted that he could be open to leaving Real Madrid this summer.
However, it is not clear whether the fact that Zinedine Zidane stood down as Real Madrid boss last week could have a bearing on Bale’s situation at the Bernabeu.
According to the same story, Bale could be set to sign for Manchester United as early as July, as Jose Mourinho looks to revamp his squad ahead of next season.
The same article says that a move for Bale is being backed by the Manchester United board ahead of former Red Devil Cristiano Ronaldo.
