Shaqiri has a reported release clause of around £13 million.
After losing 3-1 to Real Madrid in the Champions League final and finishing 4th in the Premier League, it was clear Liverpool needed to improve their squad this summer to compete with the likes of Manchester City and Manchester United.
And credit where credit is due, Liverpool are certainly looking to do so.
They have already agreed to sign Naby Keita from RB Leipzig earlier this year. The Reds would then sign holding midfielder Fabinho from Monaco for a fee of around £43 million.
Also, while a deal has not been agreed yet, Liverpool are very eager to bring Lyon’s Nabil Fekir to Anfield this summer.
Now it looks like Klopp is keen to reinforce Liverpool’s already dangerous front three.
This is a smart decision from Klopp as while Salah and Mane are top quality players, they simply cannot play every game in every competition for Liverpool without, at some point, suffering an injury or not being 100%.
