Argentina have postponed a decision on Jorge Sampaoli's future until the end of July after the coach agreed to take charge of the Under-20 team, the country's federation announced.
Sampaoli, 58, met Argentina's federation president Claudio Tapia and vice-president Daniel Angelici on Monday to talk about the team's performance at the World Cup. After the meeting, the AFA announced Sampaoli will manage the Under-20 team in the L'Alcudia this summer tournament and his future will be reevaluated at the end of this competition.
"In the next executive committee meeting, which is planned for the end of July, the members will make a joint evaluation about Sampaoli's work and future," AFA said in a statement.
Sampaoli will take over Sebastian Beccacece responsibilities as the coach of the U20 team. Beccacece left the position and his role as Sampaoli's assistant last week to become the coach of the Superliga Argentina team Defensa y Justicia.
