Chelsea star Alvaro Morata talked to La Gazzetta dello Sport ahead of the Blues’ away Champions League clash against Roma. The Spaniard is one of the cornerstones of this Chelsea side but in the interview he openly admits he’d have never left Juventus in 2016.
Morata had joined Juve two years before but Real Madrid had a buy-back clause that they activated to take the player back to the Bernabeu.
“Italy has given me so much.. I met my wife there, she is from Venice, an amazing city. I spent two great seasons in Turin with Juventus. I was only a young footballer when I arrived but when I left I was a real footballer. My wife would like to live in Spain, I'd like to live in Italy, maybe we'll find a compromise. Italy is the best place to live in for a footballer. I’d have never left Italy and Juventus. They [Juventus] have a winning mentality and are very professional.”
“I had to return to Real Madrid and that was really disappointing. There were some agreements that I had to respect but Real Madrid did treat me like the guy I was before the two years I spent in Turin.”
