Manchester United have received a huge boost on the injury front prior to this weekend’s Premier League game versus Newcastle United. According to The Sun, both Paul Pogba and Zlatan Ibrahimovic could make their comebacks against the Magpies after having recovered from their respective injuries earlier this month.
Pogba recently returned to full training after overcoming a hamstring problem sustained in mid-September, while Ibrahimovic has gone through his rehabilitation for a knee ligament damage suffered during the backend of the previous season.
United’s record signing Pogba was initially deemed doubtful to make the matchday squad against Newcastle, but The Sun suggests that the Frenchman could make the substitutes’ bench for the Magpies encounter.
Meanwhile, the report suggests that Ibrahimovic could also command a place in the matchday squad, although it is unclear whether he is nearing full fitness after participating in full training during the international break.
United are currently eight points behind table-toppers Manchester City, and the return of Pogba, in particular, will provide a huge boost as he is capable of putting pressure on the opposition by making forward runs from the centre of the park.
Ibrahimovic proved his mettle with a 28-goal season for Manchester United last term, and he could yet prove a useful backup option to Romelu Lukaku, should the Belgian continue to struggle in front of goal. Lukaku has failed to find the net in the last four league games.
