Chelsea have made an enquiry to sign Brazilian defender Emerson Palmieri from Roma, reports say. Antonio Conte was determined to sign a left back during the summer transfer window but failed to bring his number one target, Alex Sandro, to Stamford Bridge. The former Italy boss remains keen to bolster his options in that position but, with Juventus fighting hard to keep Sandro at the club, he has been forced to look at alternative options
According to Gianluca Di Marzio, the reigning Premier League champions have contacted Roma to ask about the possibility of signing 23-year-old Palmieri. Having only just recovered from a serious injury, the Brazilian has made only two appearances for Roma this season but is no stranger to speculation.
