Chelsea FC suffer setback in bid to sign midfielder

Antonio Conte

Chelsea FC have been told to forget about signing Tanguy Ndombele from Lyon this summer by the French club’s president.

The Daily Express is reporting that the Blues were showing an interest in signing Ndombele this summer amid the uncertainty about N’Golo Kante’s future at Stamford Bridge.
According to the same story, Chelsea FC were getting ready to make a move to sign Ndombele from Lyon should Kante end up leaving Stamford Bridge this summer.
However, the Ligue 1 side’s president has now dampened their hopes of completing a deal to sign the midfielder by insisting that they have no intention of letting him leave the club this summer.
Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas is quoted as saying in the same article: “We have not had any offers for him.“While other clubs are interested, he will be with us next year in the middle.
“We must not let our best players leave.”
Chelsea FC are yet to officially complete the signing of any new players this summer despite having been linked with a host of big names.
The Blues will be looking to at least assemble a squad capable of breaking back into the top four next season after they finished in fifth place in the Premier League last term and missed out on Champions League qualification.
